Tess Gilmartin

Flowers is an expressive, mixed-media still life. Tess studied flora from the Bluecoat's garden to create the work. The artwork was created during a live painting session, where she invited the public to observe her process. On a large rectangular sheet of paper, Tess painted the background and then drew over the top using pastels. Greens and pinks are the dominant colours. Circular motifs are a strong characteristic of the piece, repeated across the sheet using the pastels.
