Based around the theme of “universal basic income”, this piece is a play on words to evoke notions of empathy - “you be i” (and “i be you”) in the context of disability benefits, income inequality and universal rights. The colour scheme juxtaposes dark and light, representing both lost potential and hope and joy. Upside-down words and hearts signal the differing positions and perspectives that our shared humanity encompasses. Life is a lottery, and a greater emphasis on empathy and fairness, through measures such as UBI, would help bring about a brighter future for all.
