"Collage has been a preferred medium throughout my life. This is the first time I've tried it with my handwoven weaving samples. I started with a vague idea of a vase on a table. Only when I went to frame the finished piece did I realise that I had actually made a portrait of my late-diagnosed autistic self. I saw myself in the high contrast vase and flowers (loud) against the neutral (neurotypical) background. And in the constraining mat, I saw just how little space I have been allowed to take up."
