A reflection on the struggles of Homo sapiens with life, illness, and other afflictions. Now, we have politicians encouraging mob rule. What was dormant has returned. This is an old story written by the Roman Stoics and others. Universal, indeed. The lower figure, burdened by mental illness and failure, resorts to alcohol and other drugs to cope.

There is a route back to ‘normal’, but it is arduous, and it can feel insurmountable. Yet persistence can offer a path forward. The work draws on the artist’s experience as a clinician: his odyssey, as well as that of others.
