Charlotte Kerr
England
Charlotte’s artwork almost always involves looking at nature (particularly birds and animals) and uses very patient and intricate mark-making. Like many of her works, ‘Penguins’ displays an accumulation of different surface patterns drawn with subtle variations using fine gel pens and acrylic markers.
The penguins and the frozen landscape they inhabit are both treated with the same delicacy and care, emphasising the close connection between the birds and their natural environment.
Charlotte’s picture also portrays the tenderness of a protective relationship.
