"This painting is about inner strength, change and spirituality. Inspired by the mythological concept of hybridity, the Warrior is part human and part bird. Her mind is guided by a falcon’s intuition, speed and focus, blending their forms as if her thoughts and the bird’s instinct become one. I painted it with the ancient encaustic technique (beeswax, resin and pigment) which imparts a lifelike presence to the figure. The multi-layered brushstrokes of wax colour add depth, texture and volume. This piece is part of my Sacred Feminine archetype portraits, created as part of a process to heal from a personal challenge."
